Brother Tasos Papas was a 49-year Member of the Long Beach Chapter #342.
He joined many years ago at the urging of a chartered member. Early on Tasos realized the role of AHEPA and became actively involved. He attended many meetings and events of not only the Long Beach Chapter, but as many surrounding Chapters that he could. While there were many happy events, there were sad events as well. Tasos would make sure a Memorial Service was held for all our fallen Brothers. NO Brother was ever forgotten.
Tasos has been elected and re-elected to all the offices within the Chapter several times. He was President many times and was currently President. He does an outstanding job of keeping the Chapter going. He holds monthly meetings, has an annual Christmas Party, and participates with our Church Ministries. His favorite being the Philoptochos Membership Luncheon. He decorates his own table in the "AHEPA Decor' Theme" (including beverage). The AHEPA Brothers and their wives all enjoyed the day.
Tasos attended Mid-Winter Conferences, Districts Annual Conventions, combined Districts WRDC Conventions and District Seminars. Under Tasos Chairmanship the Long Beach AHEPA Chapter #342 along with the DOP Chapter, Minos #159, have hosted the June 12, 2003, and the June 7, 2007, District's 20 Conventions. They also hosted the January 29, 2011, and February 8, 2014, and January 19, 2019, Mid-Winter Conferences. The entire AHEPA Supreme Lodge attended the January 19, 2019, Mid-Winter Conference.
On October 3, 2016, under the leadership and direction of Tasos AHEPA Chapter #342 hosted a delicious lamb dinner meeting in honor of a visitation by AHEPA Supreme President Andrew Zachariadis.
In June 2018 at the WRDC located in Reno, Nevada Tasos was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for all his time and dedication to the Order of AHEPA.
